Frequently Asked Questions.

How old do I have to be to take part in 100 Kids Ottawa?

You have to be between the ages of 6-16 to donate, vote, or present in 100 Kids Ottawa. Younger siblings are welcome to attend as long as they are well behaved and interested in the proceedings! They are welcome to get excited about 100 Kids and join as soon as they are 6 years old.

How can I pay my $10?

Please bring your $10 in cash. 100 Kids Ottawa can not accept cheques or any other form of payment, including EMTs or IOUs. Thank you for your understanding!

Do I need to prepare a powerpoint or video for my presentation?

Because we change venues with each of our events, we don't always have access to multimedia equipment. We ask that you keep your presentations as simple as possible! You can make a tri-fold board, or bring other print media about your chosen charity if you want (for example, flyers or stickers), but it is not necessary.

Ughhhhhh I said I would present but now I'm too scared!! If I sign up, do I *have* to present?!

We do not announce the charities that are presenting until the night of the event so that everyone is sure that they feel comfortable presenting. If you say that you are going to present and now you feel too scared to do so, please let us know with as much advance notice as possible, because we can make arrangements for someone else to present instead. But if you need some encouragement, please see our Pep Talk Squad Video to learn more about how to speak in public when you're a little bit nervous!

Why do you want my address?

This is simply just too track how far we are growing. If we notice that there are a large number of children coming from one community (for example, Orleans or Barrhaven), it may be feasible to have a sister group in those communities to make it more accessible for more children. Your address will never be used in any way other than this, but please, if you are not comfortable, feel free to leave this field blank.

We live in Gatineau! Can I join?

Yes, of course! At this point, we would like to see as many children as possible take part in 100 Kids Ottawa. In the future, we may have to restrict it to only children in Ottawa, but at this point, please join and spread the word!

I am deaf/blind/differently abled. Can I still take part?

ABSOLUTELY. At 100 Kids Ottawa, we strive to be as accessible as possible for any child who wishes to take part. If you or your child needs assistance in some way, please reach out to us, and we will do everything in our power to make it possible for them to enjoy 100 Kids Ottawa.

Can you have the next meeting on a specific night of the week so we can come?

We try our best to be accessible to all of the city's children, and one of the ways that we do this is by moving the weeknights around to make sure that no one has to miss the same activities every time. If it happens to fall on the same night as an activity, we encourage you to show your children that giving should always be a priority in their lives, and that it's ok if they miss an activity one night for the greater good.

That being said, we understand that sometimes there are testing nights or demo nights that cannot be missed. This is why we move the weeknights around, so that everyone can take part most of the time.

I'm an adult, but I want to help! Can I send you $10?!

There are many ways you can help 100 Kids Ottawa, but please do not send us $10! The donations for the charities should come just from the children.  Please see our "Get Involved" tab to read more about how you can help us.

I have a charity! Will you nominate it!?

Please talk to children that you know and encourage them to get involved in 100 Kids Ottawa. They can nominate you and present on your behalf. Thank you!
